Prerequisites:

FileZilla – You need to install FileZilla on your computer, it can be downloaded from here fro free: https://filezilla-project.org/
Root login enabled through SSH, since in this tutorial we will use root to login. If you dont have that enabled, simply replace the ‘Username – root’ accordingly.

Step 1:

Begin by starting up Filezilla and Selecting File -> Site Manager from the top menu:

Step 2:

1) Click on ‘New Site’
2) In the ‘Host’ box we will put in our server’s IP address
3) In the ‘Port’ box we will put our default SSD port – 22 (if you have SSH running on a different port, please enter it there)
4) In ‘Protocol’ dropdown we will select ‘SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol’
5) In ‘Logon Type’ dropdown we will select ‘Normal’
6) In ‘User’ box we will enter: root
7) In ‘Password’ box we will enter our root password

Step 3:

You will get a similar box like below. Click ‘OK’

Step 4:

You are now connected to your server via SSH. You will see something similar like the below image. On the right window you see your files on folders on your computer, on the left side you will see your server files and folders. You are currently in your /root folder, since you logged in as root.

We now click the two dots “..” to go one folder up to your /, and you will now see linux folders like in the image below:

From here on out, you can simply navigate to which ever folder you need on both your computer and your server, and simply drag-and-drop your files from your computer on the left, to your server on the right, and vice versa. Enjoy.
